About XLS Antennas
XLS ANTENNAS is a premier provider of high-quality antennas and masts for amateur radio enthusiasts, founded and operated by the seasoned ham radio operator, GW4 XLS. With a passion for radio that ignited over four decades ago at the tender age of 16, GW4 XLS has been on an extraordinary journey, immersing himself in the world of amateur radio and antenna construction.
It all began with a humble setup – an AM receiver, a DV27 on a biscuit tin in the attic, a testament to the ingenuity and resourcefulness that would become hallmarks of GW4 XLS’s approach. From those modest beginnings, his fascination with antenna building blossomed, and he embarked on a quest to create increasingly sophisticated designs.
GW4 XLS’s early endeavors included the construction of a 6-element Quad antenna for the 11-meter band, followed by an impressive 6-element Log Periodic and an 8-element Yagi antenna. These initial projects laid the foundation for a lifetime of experimentation, innovation, and a deep understanding of antenna design principles.
With a burning desire to further his knowledge and skills, GW4 XLS obtained his amateur radio license, opening up new realms of exploration and enabling him to communicate with fellow enthusiasts across the globe. Since then, he has remained steadfastly committed to building his own antennas, continuously refining his craft and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
Today, GW4 XLS can often be found operating on the 80-meter and 40-meter bands, providing an excellent opportunity for radio enthusiasts in the UK to witness firsthand the exceptional performance of his meticulously crafted antennas. Whether you’re a seasoned ham radio operator or just starting your journey, GW4 XLS welcomes questions and invites you to experience the superior quality of his antennas.
At XLS ANTENNAS, passion, expertise, and a commitment to excellence converge, ensuring that every antenna is a masterpiece of engineering and a testament to the enduring spirit of amateur radio.
